When is the best time for a newborn photoshoot?
One of the most common questions parents ask me is:
“Is my baby too old for a newborn photoshoot?”
And the answer is — usually, no 🤍
Why photographers recommend the first 2 weeks
Many newborn photographers recommend scheduling a session within the first 5–14 days after birth.
There is a reason for that.
During the first two weeks, babies usually sleep more deeply, curl naturally into newborn poses, and are often easier to settle during the session.
This timing works especially well for posed newborn photography.
But every baby is different.
And every family is different too.
Why I photograph newborns up to one month old
I photograph newborns up to around 4 weeks old because I believe parents should still have the chance to keep these memories — even if life became busy, recovery took longer, or the first weeks felt overwhelming.
Sometimes families contact me later because:
- mum is recovering after birth
- baby spent time in the hospital
- relatives were visiting
- everything simply felt like too much in the beginning
And that is completely okay.
Your baby is still tiny.
Still changing every single day.
Still in that beautiful newborn stage.
Your baby does not need to be perfect
Many parents worry that:
their baby won’t sleep
baby has baby acne or peeling skin
baby cries often
they missed the “perfect” timing
Please don’t worry about that.
A newborn session is not about creating a perfect baby.
It’s about remembering your baby exactly as they are right now.
Tiny fingers.
Sleepy stretches.
The way they fit in your arms.
These moments change incredibly fast.
Newborn photography at home in Singapore
All my newborn sessions are calm, baby-led, and take place in your own home in Singapore.
You don’t need a perfect house.
You don’t need to prepare props.
And you don’t need to worry if your baby wakes up.
I guide you through everything gently and naturally.
Sessions usually last around 2–3 hours to allow time for feeding, cuddles, and breaks whenever your baby needs them.
The most important thing is that you feel calm and comfortable throughout the experience.
Experience matters during a newborn session
For the past 11 years, I have been photographing newborn babies and families in Singapore.
Over the years, I’ve photographed more than 800 newborns — all with different personalities, routines, sleep patterns, and needs.
That experience helps me gently adapt every session to each baby instead of expecting babies to adapt to the session.
Some babies settle quickly.
Some need more time, cuddles, or feeding breaks.
And all of that is completely normal.
My background in psychology also helps me approach newborn sessions with calmness, patience, and understanding — not only for babies, but for parents too.
Because the experience itself matters too.
It is about feeling safe, supported, and relaxed during one of the most emotional and exhausting stages of parenthood.
Still not sure if it’s the right time for a newborn session?
Feel free to message me anytime — I’ll be happy to guide you 🤍
